Claude Code was coaching me on my tasks as a PM. Now, it’s even creating them for me.
TLDR: I’d been using Claude Code for prototyping. Then I started collaborating with it on product strategy docs. What’s new is that I’m using Claude Code to consult about the order of operations and tasks I need to do.
I’m doing this all in a side project as an experiment*:
- I have a directory on my computer that’s a bunch of markdown files (user research transcripts, product strategy docs, opportunity assessments). I edit it with Cursor (geeky, I know, but it’s just a text editor)
- I broke down my idea into smaller phases in a Notion kanban (as I normally do)
- I noticed myself consulting a lot with Claude Code on what the phases should be, so I decided to stop copy-pasting and create the Kanban in markdown too!
- I opened the Cursor folder in Obsidian and installed the kanban plugin (geeky, but not that bad). I created a board that’s super easy for Claude Code to read because it’s just a markdown file on my hard drive.
-
Now Claude Code has access to:
- Product strategy docs
- User research
- Code
- Task list 🆕 - now I can have super productive conversations about “what order should I go in”
- I then realized, why am I creating these tasks manually? So I asked Claude Code to take my opportunity assessments/strategy and create phases and initiatives in my kanban (so now it can also write to my kanban)
If you want to go deeper on implementation and adoption, I offer live courses and workshops.
