Patrik Boström shows how to use Cursor rules with MCPs to automatically extract action items from one-on-one notes and add them to your todo list. “I use Cursor a lot as a second brain. I like it because I can work on the documents manually as well. If I need voice mode or anything, I just use ChatGPT and then paste the text in here,” he explains. Patrik’s setup uses Cursor rules that trigger on keywords. “In Cursor settings, you can create rules. I have a rule that basically tells the agent that when I mention one on one, pick up this rule and follow this process to add the notes in markdown in a log format. If you find action points, ask me if I want to add them to todo list. Never extract other people’s action points, because sometimes it asks me if I want to follow up on them.” His workflow: “I just say, ‘I had a one on one’ and paste some fictional notes.” Cursor picks up the rule, looks at the process to follow, and documents it in the correct format. “If it would be continuous meetings, it would just keep on adding them.” The system identifies action points: “It picks up that I have 2 action points. Do you want me to add them? Yes, add them to todo list.” The todo list has a filter on one-on-ones as well, so everything stays organized. “I also use Copilot. You can create your own custom modes that have preset with system prompts and everything. That’s something to look into as well.” For MCP installation, he recommends: “If you want to install MCPs and it’s really tricky, I really recommend using smithery.ai. They support Cursor and Claude and a lot of different tools to integrate with.” ➡️ Create a Cursor rule that triggers on “one on one.” Paste your meeting notes, let it extract action items, and automatically add them to your todo list. Your follow-ups never get lost in meeting notes again.
